The Westhampton Beach Fire Department has four new members, bringing the department’s membership to 86 firefighters.
According to Chief Chip Bancroft, James Czachur, Bryan Hoffman, Gypsy Adams and Mario Mendoza have graduated the Suffolk County Fire Academy, each completing 110 hours of firefighter training. They are now all certified as level I firefighters.
“Myself and the other chiefs are very proud of this accomplishment,” said Bancroft.
The fire department, according to Bancroft, is always looking for new members and is currently holding a recruitment drive with a goal to gain another 24 members, bringing the …

The Tallahassee Fire Academy will graduate its ninth class at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 16. The ceremony will be held in the conference center at Tallahassee Community College’s Florida Public Safety Institute.
Tallahassee Fire Department Captain Charles Dery, who serves as an instructor for the Tallahassee Fire Academy, will be the evening’s guest speaker.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., as part of the program, Class 009 graduates will present checks to the North Florida Burn Camp/Camp Amigo and the Tallahassee Community College Foundation.

The Crafton Hills College 74th Basic Firefighter Training Academy Graduation Ceremony took place at the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 21.
The 24 cadets were honored by Fire Academy Chief Dan Sullivan and guest speaker Chief Paul Lepore of the Redondo Beach Fire Department. The William S. Hart Union High School District ROP Fire Academy is holding its next graduation ceremony at Saugus High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Northwest Tucson has 13 new firefighters. The recruits graduated the Golder Ranch Fire and Northwest Fire/Rescue districts’ joint fire academy, and were pinned during a ceremony held March 17 at the DesertView Performing Arts Center in SaddleBrooke. They are, in alphabetical order, Victor Aranda, Brandon Daily, Casey Johnson, Peter Kamboukos, Jacob Lamoreaux, Stephen Ledoux, Chad Manuel, Peter Paddock, Kyle Rhein, Brian Robinson, Tris Rollins, Derek Schloss and Greg Smith. The Monmouth County Fire Academy recently graduated 60 volunteers from the Firefighter I program. The graduates were trained in two separate classes, Nos. 88 and 89, and graduations ceremonies were held on Dec. 14 and Dec. 16, respectively.
Members of Class Nos. 88 and 89 attended weekend and evening classes at the Monmouth County Fire Academy in Howell and completed 164 hours of course work over 25 sessions, according to a press release from the county.

Carlos Saldana is the epitome of service to his community and country.
The 25-year-old from Los Angeles spent Saturday afternoon surrounded by friends and family during the graduation ceremony for Glendale Community College’s Verdugo Fire Academy. Saldana’s time at the academy was interrupted by a tour with the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq.
The other 28 members of the graduating “Class 13″ worked 12-hour days each weekend in 2010 to complete the necessary training to become a state-certified firefighter.

Northeastern Junior College held a graduation ceremony Thursday, Dec. 16 for graduates of its 2010 Firefighter 1 Academy.
Troy Kinoshita of Holyoke and Andrew Boltjes of Venango, Neb. were two of nine graduates from the program.
The ceremony was held at the Sterling City Council Chambers with representatives from the college and the Sterling Fire Department participating in the certification activities. Students in the program have undergone rigorous instruction, much of it taught by seasoned fire department professionals.
The academy is a joint training effort between the college and the city.
