The Burleson Fire Department is accepting applicants for its fifth Citizens Fire Academy set to start Oct. 1.
This is a five-week academy, two nights a week, that is open to residents of Burleson and employees who work in Burleson. Classes start on Oct. 1. and are from 7-9 p.m Tuesdays and Thursdays. The last class is Oct. 29.
Participants learn all facets of fire service from the trucks and rescue equipment to first aid and CPR. The academy includes a live fire burn in which students don bunker gear and see what it’s like to fight a fire.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and have a reasonable level of physical fitness to participate in all activities.
The department hosted Citizens Fire Academies in 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2007.
Call Kristie Menchaca at Fire Station No. 1 at 817-426-9176 for more information about the Citizens Fire Academy.
