Firefighters Graduate Florida Police Academy

About a dozen firefighters graduated from the Southwest Florida Police Academy, hoping to also serve as police officers.
Those who graduated Thursday already have jobs as full time firefighters in the area.
But they say the pilot program gives them extra background to either get a job to fall back on or a part time position in law enforcement.
To complete the certification the graduates had to complete nine months, 770 hours of training and a state exam.
